Walk Toronto co-leading Jane’s Walk “Reducing travel (walk, cycle, transit) times in Toronto”

Walk Toronto is co-leading a Jane’s Walk with Mariyan Boychev and Albert Koehl to explore how to create better walking connections in Toronto.

Walk Toronto’s Lee Scott is joined by Mariyan Boychev, urban studies graduate + wheelchair commuter, and Albert Koehl, author, enviromental lawyer, and Executive Director of Community Bikeways in leading this walk in Islington Village.

Torontonians are always talking about “traffic”, and traffic delays, but why does the conversation often ignore people on foot, bikes, wheelchairs, and transit? Isn’t their time important too? In this walk we show you how some simple, and some more difficult, new connections in the Islington Village area could save thousands of residents lots of time, and improve the quality of their lives. Our walk will give examples about how the city can create easier access from Mabelle Ave, and its many residential towers, to the Islington Subway Stn, to Tom Riley Park, to the library, to the Bloor bike lane, and to local schools, including Etobicoke Collegiate.

Meet at 10 am on Saturday May 2 at Islington Ave at southeast corner with Bloor St W. Find out more at the Jane’s Walk website.

Walk Toronto steering committee members are also leading other walks this weekend:

As well, Walk Toronto’s Daniella Levy-Pinto and Dylan Reid will be part of a panel discussion at the Pedestrian Summit that will wrap up the Jane’s Walk weekend. Find out more here: https://www.cycleto.ca/pedestrian_summit_2026
